Focus-Gambia and Ngala Lodge have created the opportunity to bring together groups of likeminded people to experience the true Gambia within a social setting. Primarily we offer photography workshops, but the Ngala can also cater for a wider choice of artistic medium from drawing, painting to bird watching and fishing.
Our photographic experiences ideally suit beginners and intermediates; just choose the tutor who compliments your own style or someone completely different to stretch your skills. Whoever you choose, the aim is to get together, share knowledge, experiences and have fun!
The Gambia is perfect for Social & Documentary, Portraiture and Scenic Photography our itineraries are exciting and varied.
Our prices are very competitive because we promote the weeks just before or after the traditional Winter Season. The weather is still great, but most of the tourists have gone home, giving us unprecedented access to The Gambia.
We specialise in catering for single travellers; couples (paying particular attention to any long suffering 'artistic widows and widowers') and small groups! Our itineraries aim to push a few boundaries; and discover their own image possibilities. Tutorials the night before give you an idea of what to expect and what to look for on the next excursion!
Our itineraries can include:- Unprecedented access to Village of Njongon on the North Bank, which includes a ferry crossing and (depending on term timetables) a visit to the school; Bakau Fishing Village, The Tunbung Art Centre, Vulture Feeding at the Senegambia and numerous Portrait opportunities. With sufficient numbers we also include a memorable day at The Makasutu Cultural Forest. Those clients wishing to over night at the Mandina Lodge will be subjected to a surcharge.
Those participants who wish to devote their entire stay to the arts have access to plenty of optional excursions from which you can expand your portfolio. We also give you time off to relax or explore, either on your own or with a local guide.
We meet up for sundowners to talk about our day, exchange ideas, view images and discuss plans for the next day until our excellent UK chef, Jonathan Groves and his team, chivvy us to the table to sample yet another delicious meal!
Our workshops are spread over a week, to fit in with most people's budget; but many of our guests extend to 10 or 14 nights (subject to flight availability) to maximise their time in The Gambia.
Whatever your interest we hope we can tempt you to join us, or club together with friends and colleagues, and we will arrange a bespoke package for you........
